Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain has been on our bucket list for ages, so being able to go with our two kids was a memorable experience. Although we went on what seemed to be low season, the hotel staff were attentive and warm throughout and took special care to cater to our kids during our whole stay.
When I asked my eldest what was her opinion on what makes a hotel child friendly she proceeded to list a series of requirements, but the main one being offering kid centered activities. At that moment she proceeded to name the activities at Six Senses as reference points: teaching kids to collect eggs from hens, how to clean them and how to feed them. Holding lessons in Chinese calligraphy, painting on canvas with acryllic paint, catching butterflies on their local farm, these were a few of the endless activities that were designed for children at Six Senses.
Despite having an overwhelming Chinese base as their guests, the employees spoke English and catered to our kids’ picky eating habits with personalised dishes cooked for their specific tastes. There was relaxing live music on most nights, and there were a good number of restaurant options for the hotel’s size.
The hotel is located near to the entrance to the Qing Cheng Mountain entrance. Surrounded by bamboo trees, the hotel itself feels part of its own oasis from the outside world. You can take long walks on its winding pathways, or call your own golf cart to escort you wherever necessary, including to its long indoor pool besides its beautiful and award winning spa.
The hotel rooms are also in par with the Six Senses ecological and luxurious ethos and families can choose from family rooms with bunk beds for little ones.
From here you can venture to the many nearby panda reserves as well as to Chengdu and many other smaller villages. We left feeling like we needed to return for more days of exploration.
