Sri Lanka
Our Sri Lanka Itinerary
📍 Stop 1: Colombo (1 Day)
We began our adventure in vibrant Colombo, staying at the stunning Ishq Colombo. The city welcomed us with open arms—historic walking tours with local photographers captured memories, flying kites at Galle Face Green at sunset brought endless joy, and sampling authentic Sri Lankan cuisine at Nuga Gama where the kids could run and explore while we enjoyed the feast. From bustling markets to seaside breezes, Colombo offered the perfect blend of urban energy and cultural charm to kick off our trip.
📍 Stop 2: Kandy (2 Days)
Ascending into the lush Central Highlands, we checked into the serene Jetwing Kandy Gallery. The spiritual heart of Sri Lanka, Kandy, dazzled us with its Temple of the Tooth, where centuries of tradition come alive. We also embarked on an unforgettable night tour + cultural show in Kandy, led by a passionate local guide. The kids were mesmerized by the different costumes and dances.

📍 Stop 3: Tea Country / Hatton (2 Days)
Next, pure serenity at Ceylon Tea Trails, a luxurious colonial-era retreat nestled in misty emerald valleys. Here, we toured historic tea estates, learned how tea leaves are hand-picked, and indulged in traditional afternoon tea with delicate scones and clotted cream. The kids loved “helping” the tea pluckers (under close supervision!), and evenings were cozy, with warm stories by the fire as mountain mists enveloped us. A true taste of Ceylon’s heritage.
📍 Stop 4: Ella (1 Day)
The scenic drive from Hatton to Ella was an adventure in itself—rattling through tunnels of green, past cascading waterfalls and swaying palm trees. We stayed at the dreamy Nine Skies, perched on a mountain ridge with jaw-dropping views of the Ella Gap. Watching the tiny toy-like train wind through the landscape at golden hour was pure magic. A short hike to Ravana Falls added a touch of exploration, and yoga at dawn brought peaceful moments for the whole family.
Elephant at Yala National Park
📍 Stop 5: Yala National Park (2 Days)
Wild luxury awaited us at Uga Chena Huts, where private pavilions and plunge pools blend into the edge of the jungle and ocean. Dawn and late-afternoon game drives were the highlight—tracking wild elephants, sloth bears, and the elusive Sri Lankan leopard with expert guides. Every safari felt like a National Geographic episode come to life. At night, we listened to the jungle’s symphony under a sky full of stars, feeling both adventurous and safe.

📍 Stop 6: Tangalle (4 Days)
Our grand finale: Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort, where days unfolded in beachy bliss. We sipped fresh king coconuts harvested daily by the resort’s cheerful “coconut guru,” swam in turquoise waters, and let time slow down. The kids had the experience of a lifetime joining turtle conservation efforts—helping baby turtles make their first journey to the sea. It was a heartwarming, meaningful end to a whirlwind journey.
